Despite years of campaigning for more humane treatment of people seeking asylum, bipartisan policy has worsened and community attitudes continue to harden. This free public lecture will present the findings of ground breaking research on the representation of asylum seekers in the Australian media. Commissioned by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and led by the renowned US messaging expert and cognitive linguist, Anat Shenker-Osorio, this forum will provide an opportunity for the public to hear about the implications of this research for the fostering of a more constructive debate on asylum seeker issues.
